PIA Service BV invested some time ago in building knowledge and expertise in the field of NIS2 and cybersecurity. Two engineers have been trained to help customers translate this abstract legislation into practical actions and to technically secure their systems.<\/p>\n

Last summer, we interviewed John de Krijger, Managing Director of PIA Service, about the state of NIS2. John noted that the number of customers actively translating NIS2 into concrete actions was limited and fell short of his expectations. We recently spoke with him again and asked the following questions:<\/p>\n

What is the current situation regarding NIS2?<\/h2>\n

John: Since the beginning of this year, I have seen an increase in questions related to cybersecurity. These new inquiries mainly come from smaller customers. Due in part to a major data breach at a telecom provider, these smaller companies are now also confronted with \u201cwhat-if\u201d scenarios. These questions are typically raised internally with those responsible for technical operations, who then reach out to us for support.<\/p>\n

How can you support these customers?<\/h2>\n

John: NIS2 outlines what organizations need to do to become more resilient against the risks of cyberattacks. We initially help customers by conducting a risk assessment. This starts with mapping the company network, understanding how systems are interconnected, and identifying where data is stored. Even simple questions such as, \u201cWhere are the correct software backups stored, and how do we reinstall them on our systems?\u201d often provide valuable insights and lead to improvements that can be implemented quickly. NIS2 supports a structured approach to increasing resilience against cyber threats.<\/p>\n

What would you like to share with industrial customers?<\/h2>\n

John: The recent telecom provider case has once again demonstrated how significant the impact of a cyberattack can be. We often see that companies have not sufficiently assessed these risks and assume they are adequately prepared. I would advise organizations to actively address this topic or to collaborate with a partner who can provide guidance.
